Trip Highlights & Description
After some car shuffling in the morning (leaving ours in Callaghan) we will get back to Whistler for the start of our run.
We will gain reasonable elevation during the first 2km (25min) after which the trail will turn into more rolling and runnable. The forest will start opening up about 50min into our run. Crossing several small meadows will eventually bring us to a beautiful wide open area with Rainbow Lake being the centre of attention. From here on, we will take it easy, stopping for pictures and munching on some food.
Then we will continue on to the nearby Hanging Lake which sits in a crater-like terrain formation and overall creates a different vibe than Rainbow. After some more photo ops, we will begin our descent to the Callaghan Valley. The trail here is more technical and steeper so we will do more speed hiking than running to avoid rolling an ankle.
We can stop for a small snack at the Olympic park beverage stand or head back to Whistler for a well deserved lunch.
